Pitching to editorial playlists
Sending a release to the platforms' editorial teams for consideration before it goes out.
An editorial pitch is presenting your release to the platforms' editorial teams so they consider it for their playlists, before it comes out.
Requirements
- The release must have a release date.
- That date must be at least 7 days away. The recommendation is 28 days or more: the earlier you send the pitch, the more room the editors have.
When you pick the release, the system tells you whether it's eligible and with how much lead time.
What you fill in
- The focus track (a single song from the release).
- A description of the track: context, story, who it's for.
- Mood, style and instrumentation tags.
- Your promotion plan and channels.
- Figures and links for your socials (Spotify, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube).
- Previous editorial placements, press, collaborations, music video, primary market.
- Optional materials: EPK, one-sheet.
Pitch statuses
Draft → Submitted → Under Review → Approved → Sent to platforms. If it doesn't proceed, it moves to Rejected with a reason, and you can fix it and resubmit.
What it doesn't guarantee
The pitch doesn't secure the placement. The final decision to include your music in an editorial playlist is each platform's.
