Streams vs. income

Streams are a count. Income is money. They don't move at the same rate.

Why each stream is worth a different amount

• The platform: each service pays at a different rate.
• The listener's country.
• The account type: a play from a paying user earns more than one from an ad-supported or free-trial account.
• Promotions and discount periods.

Consequences

• Two songs with the same streams can generate very different income.
• A month with more streams can earn less than one with fewer.
• The country where you're streamed the most isn't necessarily the one that pays you the most.

In analytics you see both figures separately so you can compare them.
