Choose territories

How to choose between worldwide distribution or specific territories, the tools for building your country list, and what to consider before narrowing the selection.

Updated 2 days ago

In the Territories step you decide which countries your release will be available in. The default is Worldwide, and for most releases that's the right choice.

Worldwide or specific territories

The Distribution Scope field has two options:

  • Worldwide (All Territories) — distributes to every available country, automatically.
  • Select Specific Territories — you choose country by country or by region.

Worldwide distribution

This is the default. There's nothing else to set: the release reaches every territory where each platform operates.

Choose it unless you have a specific reason to limit countries: exclusivity, deals, or rights restrictions.

Selecting specific territories

Switching to this mode opens several tools for building your list.

Quick templates

Quick Select Templates offers predefined combinations for common strategies (for example, major markets only). Pick a template as a starting point and adjust it afterwards, or leave Custom Selection to start from scratch.

Search and pick by region

  • Search Territories — type a country name to find it quickly.
  • Select Territories by Region — the full list with checkboxes. Use the bulk toggle to select a whole region at once.

Quick actions

  • Select All Regions — checks every territory.
  • Major Markets Only — applies the major-markets template.
  • Clear All — empties the selection (asks for confirmation).

The selection summary

Below, the Selection Summary shows how many territories and what regional coverage you've chosen, and warns you if the selection is very small or if major markets are missing.

You need at least one territory (or Worldwide) to submit the release for review.

Before choosing specific territories

  • Rights: make sure you have distribution rights for the countries you select.
  • Language and market: consider where your audience actually is.
  • Platform availability: some platforms don't operate in every territory, so selecting a country doesn't guarantee presence in every store there.

Changing territories later

You can adjust the selection while the release is in Draft or Requires changes.

If the release is already distributed, the change goes through a new review before it takes effect in the stores.
