Quick Release Creation

What Is Quick Release Creation?

It's the fastest way to upload a release to the platform. Instead of going through the full advanced form field by field, Quick Creation walks you through a 3-step wizard and automatically applies the recommended settings: default record label, Worldwide territory, suggested platforms based on your plan and genre, and rights holder based on the main artist.

You can access it from Releases → Quick create, at the top of your releases list.

When Should You Use This Mode?

It works great for singles, EPs, and standard albums where you don't need to customize the label, territories, or platform list.

If your release needs a label other than the default one, specific territories instead of Worldwide, or platforms adjusted one by one, use the advanced mode (the full release creation form) instead. You can also start in quick mode and switch to "Review in advanced mode" before submitting, without losing what you've already uploaded.

Before You Start

You need at least one artist already created on your account. If you don't have one and don't have permission to create artists, the system will let you know and ask you to contact support — but if you do have that permission, you can create the artist without leaving the wizard, directly from the artist selector on each role.

Have ready:

• The final cover art in square format (minimum 3000×3000 px, maximum 5000×5000 px, JPG/PNG/WEBP).
• The audio file(s) in WAV or FLAC (MP3 is not accepted at this step).
• The legal names of your composer(s) and lyricist(s), if not already saved on the artist's profile — the wizard flags any that are missing and lets you fill them in without leaving the screen.

Step 1: Essentials

Release Details

Enter the release title (exactly as it will appear on streaming platforms) and choose the type: Single (1 track), EP (2 to 6 tracks), or Album (7 or more).

Sound

Select the genre and the main language of the lyrics. If the release has no vocals, choose "Instrumental" — this changes which roles the next section asks for. You also indicate whether the content is explicit, not explicit, or a clean version.

Artists and Credits

Assign one or more artists per role. The same artist can hold more than one role at once.

• Main Artist and Producer: always shown and required.
• Composer: always shown; requires the artist to have a legal name on file (if missing, an icon next to the field lets you add it right there).
• Lyricist and Vocals: only shown when the language isn't "Instrumental."
• Featured Artist: optional, enabled with a toggle when it applies.
• Instrumentalists: only shown when you chose "Instrumental" — here you indicate which instrument(s) each artist plays.

If you add more main artists than Spotify allows to display as "Various Artists" for that release type, you'll see a warning on screen.

Step 2: Cover Art and Audio

Cover Art

Upload the square cover image. Avoid small text or elements near the edges — thumbnails on streaming platforms crop it.

Audio

For a Single, you upload one audio file and can optionally mark a "highlight time" (the most engaging moment of the track, useful for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts).

For an EP or Album, you upload one file per track — a minimum of 2 for an EP (maximum 6) and a minimum of 7 for an Album, with no upper limit. You can reorder tracks by dragging them, and each track's title is optional: if left blank, it's taken from the file name.

Step 3: Date and Confirmation

Choose the release date. The earliest available date is calculated automatically based on your plan — you can't pick an earlier date, but any later date is fine.

Before finishing, you'll see a summary with the assigned artists, the territory (always Worldwide in this mode), and the number of platforms that will be assigned automatically based on your plan and genre.

You have two buttons to finish:

• Submit for review: creates the release and, if it passes all validations, sends it straight to the review team.
• Review in advanced mode: creates the release as a draft and takes you to the full form so you can review or adjust it before submitting.

What Gets Set Automatically

Quick Creation fills in several fields for you that are configured manually in advanced mode:

• Record label: the platform's default public label is used.
• Distribution territory: Worldwide.
• Platforms: assigned based on your plan and the chosen genre.
• Copyright and publishing rights holder: taken from the artist marked as Main Artist (or, if none was assigned, from the first artist added under any role).
• Original release date: saved as the same date you chose for the release.

Any of these values can be adjusted afterward by opening the release in advanced mode.

What Happens After You Create the Release

If you chose "Submit for review" and everything is complete, you'll get confirmation that your release was submitted. If a required field is missing, submission is blocked and you're told how many checks are still pending, so you can complete them in advanced mode.

If you chose "Review in advanced mode," the release is saved as a draft and opens directly in the full form so you can finish adjusting it before submitting.
