How to replace the audio file of an already-distributed recording, what happens to the ISRC, and why the release goes back to review.
Audio replacement swaps the file of a recording that's already distributed.
Before distribution it's simpler
If the release hasn't been distributed yet, you don't need replacement: swap the file directly on the track (see Upload audio). Replacement is for afterwards.
How it works
You request the replacement and upload the new file. UXEM reviews the new audio and coordinates its update on compatible destinations, keeping the release's structure where each platform's conditions allow.
One important rule
Editing an already-distributed release automatically returns it to In Review. The new file goes through an additional validation before it's delivered again.
The ISRC is kept
The ISRC is not regenerated when you replace the audio: the recording keeps its identifier.

The result can vary by platform and by the type of change. If you don't see the option to request the replacement, contact us.
