Why UXEM and a platform may differ
Reporting windows, fraud filtering, rounding and other reasons the numbers don't match.
It's normal for a platform's dashboard (Spotify for Artists, Apple Music for Artists, etc.) and UXEM not to match exactly. These are the usual causes.
Reporting window
The platform's dashboard shows activity in near real time. UXEM shows what comes in the royalty report, which arrives with a lag and by closed months.
Fraud filtering
The platform discounts invalid or artificial streams before paying. Its public dashboard may show them; the paid report doesn't.
Preliminary vs. confirmed
A month's first data is estimated and adjusts when the confirmed report arrives. See Estimated vs. confirmed data.
Date attribution
A stream can be counted on the day it happened (platform dashboard) or in the report's period (UXEM).
Currency and rounding
Amounts are consolidated in US dollars (USD) with an exchange rate. Rounding creates small differences.
Free trials and promotions
Some uses are paid at a different rate or not paid, and they're not always shown the same way in both places.
The reference for royalties
For what you're paid, the reference is the report UXEM receives, not the platform's dashboard.
