Keep streams, ISRCs and UPCs when migrating
Why reusing existing codes keeps the history, and what can't be reused.
When you migrate your catalog, the key to not losing each recording's history is to reuse the same codes.
ISRC
Each recording keeps its ISRC. Enter it on the track while the release is in Draft.
Platforms match streams, listeners and playlist adds by ISRC. An identical ISRC keeps that history when the platform recognizes it as the same recording.
UPC
The release keeps its UPC. Enter it in the Codes & Legal step.
Original release date
Set the Original Release Date to the first publication date. That way the music isn't treated as a new premiere.
What is NOT reused
If what you're migrating is actually a different recording — a remix, a live version, a remaster from a different master — that one needs a new ISRC. See Using an existing ISRC.
Coordinating the takedown
To avoid duplicates in stores, the removal at the previous distributor and the delivery from UXEM must line up in time. The UXEM team coordinates this with you.
Don't make up codes
If you don't have a recording's real ISRC, leave it blank: UXEM will assign a new one. But with a new ISRC, that recording starts its history from scratch.
