What specialized destinations like Beatport and Volumo are and how a release's fit is assessed.
Beyond the generalist platforms, there are specialized destinations that organize their catalog around a specific genre or community. The main ones on UXEM are Beatport and Volumo.
How they differ
A generalist platform receives very varied music. A specialized destination has its own requirements:
- Beatport focuses on electronic music and requires music to be delivered through an approved label or distributor. Genre compatibility is assessed by the platform itself.
- Volumo is a store for DJs, with downloads in formats like MP3, WAV, AIFF and FLAC. It also receives releases through distributors.
How the fit is decided
There's no automated check inside the platform. UXEM prepares the delivery by reviewing the genre and subgenre, the label, the artists, the format and the destination's available requirements.
Final compatibility is assessed by each platform during its own review:
- Compatible — it can be prepared with the current information.
- Needs information — data, profiles or settings are missing.
- Not compatible — the genre, format or another condition doesn't match the destination.
How to request it
You select the release, UXEM checks compatibility and tells you what's missing if anything is. Then the release goes through the usual review before delivery. If you don't see this option, contact us.
