Release on the wrong profile

Why a release can land on the wrong artist profile and how to request a correction.

Updated 1 day ago

Sometimes a release appears on another artist's profile with the same name, or creates a new profile instead of using yours.

Why it happens

  • The artist name doesn't exactly match your profile on the platform (an accent, a space, different capitalization).
  • There are several artists with the same name and the platform couldn't tell them apart.
  • The links to your streaming profiles were missing on the UXEM artist, so the platform didn't know which one to attach the release to.

How to prevent it

  • Always write the artist name the same way and exactly as it appears in stores (see Formatting an artist name).
  • Fill in the links to Spotify, Apple Music, etc. on the artist profile (see Set up your first artist).

How it's fixed

Reassigning to the correct profile is handled by each platform. Contact us with:

  • The affected release.
  • The platform and the link to the wrong profile.
  • The link to your correct profile on that platform (if it exists).

We coordinate the correction with the platform. Profile changes in stores can take time.
