Ownership claims and unauthorized use

What to do if someone distributed your music without permission or an incorrect claim appears.

Updated 1 day ago

If someone distributed your music without permission, or an incorrect claim appears on your content, contact us.

What to include

  • The affected release or video.
  • The link in the store or platform where the problem appears.
  • Proof of your ownership: contracts, original ISRCs/UPCs, master files, composition registrations.

What can happen

  • Your music published by someone else: UXEM handles the claim with the platform to have it removed or reassigned to you.
  • An incorrect Content ID claim on your video: the team reviews and disputes it. See YouTube Content ID.
  • A release on the wrong profile: see Release on the wrong profile.

Keep in mind

  • Timelines depend on each platform. The more proof you provide, the faster.
  • Don't upload a copy "to compete" with the unauthorized version: it can complicate the claim.
